Cold Fusion é uma linguagem dinâmica, assim como ASP, PHP, CGI, ela pode criar diversos aplicativos que se baseiem na plataforma cliente-servidor, tais como Bate-Papos, Fóruns, Sites de Downloads, Portais e etc...

Não podemos considerar o Cold Fusion como uma linguagem de programação porque ela é uma linguagem de marcação (funciona semelhante ao HTML, porém ela é uma linguagem de servidor)

Atuamente, o responsável pelo Cold Fusion é a Macromedia

Erm.. pq nao considerar o CFML como linguagem de programação? É verdade que, estruturalmente, ele se parece com o HTML, mas sem duvida, quem utiliza CFML é programador....

Programar é determinar as ações de uma aplicação de acordo com os dados de entrada que lhe são passados. Isto, sem dúvido, pode ser feito com CFML.... ele tem estruturas de decisão e repetição....

Não é porque CFML tem uma sintaxe totalmente diferente que deixa de ser linguagem de programação.....

porque quando se cria um programa em qualquer linguagem de programação, segue-se alguns quesitos que no caso do Cold Fusion, estes quesitos não são obedecidos, tais como: Declaração de Variáveis, Escopo do Programa, e alguns outros...

mas ele é uma linguagem de marcação, bem como o próprio nome diz: Cold Fusion Markup Language

e ele também segue todas as rotinas que qualquer linguagem de programação segue (como loops, condicionais, e etc)

por isso que CFML é designado como linguagem de marcação, como o seu próprio nome já diz... o que não deixa de ser uma forma de programar... mas tecnicamente falando, o certo é dizer que Cold Fusion não é linguagem de programação, blz!?

Não concordo,

Alias discordo totalmente de vc, já que tenho visto muita gente falando que o CFML não é linguegem de programação e coisa e tal.
Sou desenvolvedor Cold Fusion, e posso afirmar certamente que o CFML é uma linguagem de programação sim. Seu nome possui sim a sigra "Markup Language", devido a linguagem ser baseada em Tags. mas de fato essas tags são apenas abreviações de longos trchos de codigo que as linguagens comuns utilizam.
Agora se vc acha que para ser considerada uma linguagem de programação o CFML não pode basear-se em tags, está ai um código que torna o CF parecido com linguagens comuns:

nem tanto, pois eu trabalho com linguagens de marcação que podem ser consideradas como linguagem de programação (ZOPE -> DTML), e é bem parecido com o Cold Fusion...

para mim, em teoria continuo achando que num é, mas na prática agente pode vê que o Cold Fusion é uma linguagem de Programação :)
